Secondly, the views expressed in this blog and particularly this post are my own. No-one cohearsed me in to sharing my opinion here and no lawyer has influenced me to subdue it. I believe I am entitled to an opinion and share it.
Now, lifting. This is a sensitive issue at the best times in the scrapping world and for the most we scrappers, turn a blind eye or say privately to ourselves "Oh look she did the same thing" This week however, lifting reared it head in an oh so ugly and blatant way.
The LO below, as with most of my LO's, is almost entirely inspired by this gallery. I would be at a loss to recall a single LO that inspired this but just watching the way she fills her page has helped me to fill mine. That would be, in my opinion the correct way to lift. And while I don't credit Candice on every single LO, I do acknowlege that she is a major source of inspiration, as is evident by this LO. And trust me if was trying to conceal it I wouldn't show my LO's off publically when we share so many scrapping friends. This should be how you go about it. None of the originally talented ladies out there are asking for you to gush over them, they just ask that you do not pass off their ideas as your own.
How not to go about it 101.
When you use this as inspiration to create this without giving any credit. Same theme, similar interpretation, and by golly such similar photos. This would be a very good exmaple of how not to go about it.
If thats not blatant enough for you. How about using this to inspire this? Same theme and so many similar elements. This would be blatant. Now this may or not be the case. But it looks to me like she had those photos of those huge carrots and did not know how to use them. She saw the Rabbit Food LO and thought "Ah-ha, there's a good idea." I don't have a problem with that but for the part where no where does she give credit for it. Not even a blanket "Thanks for the ladies who inspire me" No, she passed it off as her own 'very distinctive and unique style.' And then when others started commenting on how similar they are, she has the comments removed. This would another exmple of how not to do it.
The idea is to find a style that works for you and then try and put your own twist on it.
Now I am sure I will be asked to remove some links from this blog within the next 24 hours. To those of you intend asking me to, rather voice your own opinion here.
Cheers
C
